When I first saw the Instant Pot and that you could do hard-boil eggs in it, I wanted it! That is basically the only reason I wanted the Instant Pot. So, after a few years of research and not really wanting to spend the money on the Instant Pot, my Mom got me one for Christmas. Do you know what the first thing I made in it was? You guessed it water! Oh, wait, that is not what you guessed? I did the test run in the instructions and you just use water. But the second thing I made was…yep hard-boiled eggs!
I am going to share with you my method of making hard-boiled eggs in the Instant Pot. From what I have found it is pretty similar to what most other people do also. I have the 6 quart Instant Pot, from my research you may need to make adjustments if you have an 8 quart Instant Pot.
Step 1:
Place the steamer rack in the bottom of the Instant Pot. Add 1 and half cups of water to the Instant Pot.
Step 2:
Place eggs on steamer rack. I place as many eggs as I can on a single layer. It is usually about 15 eggs.
Step 3:
Place lid on Instant Pot and lock in place. Make sure the steam valve in set to the sealing position.
Step 4:
Set to pressure cook/manual at high pressure for 5 minutes. It takes about 10-12 minutes to get to pressure. When I only did 12 eggs it did not take as long to get to pressure, about 6-8 minutes.
Step 5:
When it is done, you want to let it natural release for 5 minutes. When 5 minutes is up do a quick release.
Step 6:
Open and place eggs in cold/ice water for 5 minutes. The first time I did them I did ice water. Every time after I have just placed them in a bowl of cold water, mainly because we do not have ice.
Step 7:
Peel and store in fridge. I crack the bottom of the egg and start peeling, usually the shell just comes right off.
For me this is so much easier than boiling them on the stove. Every time I boil on the stove, I forget to keep watch for them to boil to set a timer. I can never get the shell to come off nicely either. If you have an Instant Pot and like to do hard-boiled eggs you have to try this method!
Stay positive, stay motivated, and make today amazing!
With love and encouragement,
