As I sit here sipping my warm sweet tea and enjoying a couple of cookies, I find myself reflecting on the unexpected journey that led me to this very moment. With a notebook in hand, originally intended for a summer Bible study, I ponder the purpose it serves in my life.
You see, this notebook was meant to be a prayer journal, a place where my thoughts and reflections on scripture could find a home. However, here I am, four weeks into the study, and this is the first time I’ve laid pen to paper in this particular book. Instead, I found myself drawn to another notebook, a familiar companion from past Bible studies.

So, what is the purpose of this neglected notebook?
In the quiet moments of reflection, I felt a gentle tug on my heart—an invitation to return to a passion I had long set aside. Writing, a practice that had once filled my younger years with short stories and poems, had been hidden away. It wasn’t until recently, prompted by a nudge from God, that I recognized the need to rediscover this neglected talent.
The desire to write has always lingered beneath the surface. Secretly harboring dreams of blogging, even before blogging became a thing, I envisioned my blog as a personal chronicle of my life’s journey. Yet, in today’s world, sharing every detail of one’s life may not be the wisest choice.
In the midst of family struggles over the past months, I grappled with the guilt of not contributing financially as a stay-at-home mom. Seeking a solution, I started Ash Country Candles & Designs, hoping to make a meaningful contribution. While the business showed promise, an unrelenting tug persisted. I yearned to do more.
My involvement in Tuesday morning Bible studies at church, spanning several years, provided a backdrop of continuous learning and growth. Always feeling like a newcomer to the Bible, I decided it was time to dig deeper. Ideas about glorifying God through my work began to take shape, leading me to create a line of faith-based shirts that resonated well with others. Still, a divine push urged me onward.

**P.S. I penned this entry nearly 5 years ago, not knowing the blog’s name. It came to me after much contemplation and a list of possibilities. Some of my upcoming posts will share the backstory of getting this blog started, chronicling the journey over the past few years. Also over this time period That Country Grace also found a new name, Encouraged by Grace.
